Fall Play
A full-length play is presented. Students from Cathedral High School are encouraged to try out in May each year for the following fall production. For those who are interested in technical or backstage experience such as lighting, set construction, set design, make-up, or costumes, opportunities exist. The play is presented in November. Auditions take place in September and the production is presented in November.
Activity fee: $60.00
7th and 8th Grade Play
Auditions for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will take place on September 5th and 6th after school in Holy Angels Performing Arts Center. Copies of the script can can be found in the Library for those interested.
Advent and Lenten Plays
Two presentations are made during the school year to reflect the seasons of the church year. These presentations are open to all students of Cathedral High School.
Coffee House Theatre
An evening of plays presented in different settings such as the audience being placed on stage along with actors. The types of play chosen are challenging and tend to more mature in their subject matter. And yes, coffee is served too! Auditions are held in March/April with the productions taking place in May.
Activity fee: $60.00
One Act Play
Students are encouraged to write an original play. All entries will be performed and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges. There are separate divisions for John XXIII and CHS. Guidelines for writing may be obtained from the Main Office in September. The Festival is held in February with a deadline of December 1 for submitting an original play.
Activity Fee: $60.
Spring Musical
This is open to all students at Cathedral High School. Tryouts are held in December. The object of the musical is to include a wide spectrum of student involvement. Opportunities also exist for back stage work including lighting, set design and construction, make-up, and costuming. The musical is presented in February/March.
