The Development Office and Education Foundation Program at Cathedral High School/John XXIII Middle School helps provide resources necessary for the school to accomplish its mission of providing "academic excellence - guided by Christian values and Catholic teachings" to our youth to empower them "to serve the local and global community".
Cathedral High School/John XXIII Middle School is dependent on three sources of revenue to operate our school: tuition, parish subsidy and fund-raising. Tuition covers less than 70 % of the basic operating expenses of the school. CHS/JXXIII is committed to keeping tuition as low and viable as possible.
Funds for tuition assistance, faculty recruitment and retention, and program and facility improvements are raised through our Development/Foundation Programs. Our buildings and our very existence are the result of the generosity of parents, alumni and benefactors who have partnered with us for over a century.
Funds raised through our Development Office allow our school to do these things and more:
- Help Students
- Attract and Retain Qualified, Dedicated Educators
- Enhance Programs and Facilities
Help Students
Your donation can provide a young man or woman with the opportunity to receive a CHS/JXXIII education by:
- Making a gift to the Scholarship Fund: Interest generated from your gift will be part of the Tuition Assistance Program.
- Making a gift to the Adopt-A-Student Program: Your gift sponsors a student by paying their tuition (or a portion of a student's tuition) on a year-to-year basis.
- Making a gift to the Tuition Special Cause Program: Your designated gift helps families who are experiencing extra-ordinary financial challenges (serious illnesses, job loss, etc.) that prevent them from paying their tuition.
- Making a Memorial or Tribute gift: Your gift is made in memory or in honor of someone and the interest generated from the gift is used for tuition assistance.
Attract and Retain Dedicated Educators
One of the hallmarks of a CHS/JXXIII education is the individual attention our students receive. We are fortunate to have faculty and staff that are highly educated and experienced in their fields and remain committed to the students and their total development.
Your gift can enable the school to:
- Attract and retain the best teachers, thereby maintaining the quality education we are able to provide.
- Benefit our students through their interaction with dedicated teachers that inspire our youth, foster their individual abilities, nurture spiritual and academic growth and impact positive social development.
- Support the ongoing professional development of our teachers and staff.
- Establish a Faculty/Staff endowment which would generate dividends for annual disbursements to supplement teacher and staff salaries without impacting the cost of tuition.
Enhance Programs and Facilities
Educational programs at CHS/JXXIII are continually improving to keep pace with the changing needs of our students. Likewise, our facility requires maintenance and periodic upgrades in order to provide the best learning environment. You can help in this endeavor by making a gift to:
- The Annual Giving Program: Your gift helps to defray the cost of program and campus enhancements on a yearly basis and helps to keep tuition increases to a minimum.
- The Capital Improvements Fund: Interest generated from your gift helps to offset yearly maintenance and operation costs of our facilities, helping to keep tuition low.
